ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Charter school leaders and stakeholders across Texas are committed to providing quality educational choices for students within the public education system. Recognizing the importance of a strong and unified charter movement to achieve that vision, stakeholders are coming together to create a statewide association with the mission of accelerating student achievement by supporting and mobilizing a diverse set of effective charter schools.

The new Texas Charter Schools Association is the membership and professional association for charter schools. Together with its members and stakeholders, the TCSA works to increase student achievement by supporting and expanding Texas’ quality charter public school movement.

The Texas Charter Schools Association will be guided by the following principles:

  • Unify and represent diverse types of effective charter schools that enhance student achievement and are well managed organizations
  • Help create a better definition of an effective charter school that incorporates growth and complements existing accountability system standards for absolute performance
  • Support member schools to improve their effectiveness in meeting educational mission and progress towards student excellence
  • Advocate in legislature and broader public for "effective" charter schools as a critical part of the overall public education system
  • Provide fee based services (e.g., back office support, group insurance purchasing, etc.) to member schools to reduce their overall costs while building itself into a self-sustaining organization

The new association seeks an entrepreneurial leader to build a high impact organization grounded in these principles and positioned to achieve ambitious goals for growing the size and quality of the charter school movement in Texas.

College Counselor – Uplift Education

 

The primary role and purpose of this position is to design and facilitate a program that ensures our students and families understand the college admission process; also, to work with colleges and universities to ensure our school's visibility and ultimately ensure our students are accepted at the nation's top colleges and universities.  Develop productive relationships with colleges
Development and implementation of outreach programs to raise awareness of our school among college admissions offices assisting them in understanding the nature of Uplift schools and curriculum and the quality of the student's preparation through relationships with college admission personnel; to communicate and in-service the school counselors on current College information
Facilitate student and parent programs for the post-high school planning Design and implement a program that ensures students understand all they need to know about high school (GPAs, college entrance exams)

This candidate must demonstrate knowledge and experience in Post Secondary Educational options, College admission process and scholarship opportunities and application process; Familiar with steps concerning prerequisites for admission and scholarships
Demonstrate knowledge and skills in developing and implementing parent programs in the areas of post-high school planning, financial aid and transition issues

Bachelor's Degree - Must have received your bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

New Orleans, LA

New Leaders for New Schools in New Orleans is looking for outstanding current or former educators, who are interested in becoming a school leader in New Orleans.  This is a great opportunity to become part of an exciting education reform movement that is taking place in New Orleans.

Our training program includes: 10-weeks of all-expenses paid coursework, a year-long, full-time residency with a mentor principal in a New Orleans public school ($60,000-$70,000 plus benefits), coaching from a former, successful principal, and 5-years of ongoing support once on-the-job as a school principal.
